Aims The purpose of sharing this case is to bring attention the complexities in implementing legal framework for children and adolescents as well serious shortages in-patient adolescent psychiatric beds, which can adversely affect mental health young people. Methods A girl with a diagnosis Depressive Disorder Disordered Eating was treated by community team two years. She took an overdose admitted private NHS funded unit, where she placed on Section 2 Mental Health Act. After months transferred out area bed. While home leave another needed admission High Dependency Unit. When medically fit moved back unit. local Due dietary restriction commenced nasogastric feed. At that point unit could not provide support region. being 18 when her condition improved discharge planning meeting place. still feed sometimes had be restrained. regional crisis consultants suggested should discharged under Community Treatment Order. consultant advice. advice provision feeding without person's consent would likely unlawful violation Article 3 rights European Convention Human Rights. Such restraint amount deprivation liberty breach 5 Results It deeply concerning between four units during one episode due lack appropriate bed availability. age case, taken because involved failed agree application framework. Conclusion This clearly highlights need address issue importance educational programmes aimed at improving knowledge skills professionals adolescents.
